Count down

We are counting down the days now, and I will be home in about 1 week! This weekend we will be traveling to Lagos, Portugal to the beach there. There are about 10 of us, and we will stop in Sevilla for one night, and I don´t think we have a place to stay... This should be interesting. We have to go to a different bus station to go to Lagos. We will be back Monday early early morning and then I my last week of school. Tests on Thursday and then I leave for the last travels, end up in Malaga and then come home for a week full of cheer camp!

Sevilla was fun! woo hoo! I really enjoyed the city and touring evertying! All the buildings there are gorgeous! What a blast. I really did enjoy it! I saw the beautiful Cathedral/Palace that is there, plazas, beuftiful gardens, and we paddled on the river, toured the town on top of the red Europe buses, went to museums, and heard "Amazing Grace" on bagpipes, and then we watched the Sevilla soccer team win a game last night at the Sports cafe down the street from our hostal! So now we are back in Granada and getting ready for our last two weeks. I think this next weekend we are going to Lagos, Portugal. A group of about 9 of us are going to the beach! (It seems that every beach I go to seems to be "the nicest beach"), so, it should be quite beautiful and a fun time! yay!

June 17-June 25

Tonight I am giong to an olive oil and cheese tasting with the other students from the school. I am excited to know a little bit about olives and such. um!
Then, on Friday, I leave for Sevilla. I have heard of the great plazas and architecture to see there. I should get my camera ready and my walking shoes on! I will be staying with three other girls and will return on Sunday for two more weeks of school.

Alpujarras

I went to the Alpujarras this past weekend and hiked up and over mountains! 20 miles in two days! We stayed in a hostal and enjoyed the views. No rain - it almost looked like it was going to, though.
We had lunch on the river and they treated us to a delightful dinner. The whole group of us went - about 40 other college students - what a blast!
I enjoyed the nature, the hike, and the views!

Nerja, Feria, y la Alhambra

We have been keeping busy with school work and enjoying the activities Spain has to offer. We went to the Alhambra castle here in Grenada. It is gorgeous and huge. I couldn't believe the architecture, art, and how tiny the doorways were. The views are gorgeous. Another great place we went to is Nerja beach. It is such a gorgeous place. I went with three of the girls that are staying in my homestay. They are precious, and from Chicago. It felt like hanging out with the youth at church :). I went with their whole class and teachers. It sure was a blast.
Also, the grand Feria (fair) is in town. It comes every summer and the people go nuts about it! The culture here really likes to stay up till aout 5am partying (or at least some of the people do). Some never sleep! We went a few nights and got a taste of the city and rode the ferris wheel! :)

Today is Tuesday and we have no plans except to study. Tests and papers are coming about in all our classes at once. Last Sunday three new girls came to live with me. They are in the high school group that is here studying at my school. There are about 10 of them and will be here for about 3 weeks.
Last night was a birthday for one of them. So, the three girls invited me to go celebrate and we went and had churros con chocolate. They are 16 and 17, will be seniors, but it is nice to be around a different age group other than my own. They showed me their itinerary and I might go to Nerja (the beach) with them on Saturday.
This whole week is a holiday for the Spaniards. This is Corpus Christi week, celebrating the body of Christ, from what I understand. A "fair" (carnival) was put up and fiestas in the plazas are everywhere. So, we will probably go sometime soon.
On Friday I am going to the Alhambra with my Art class.
